Google's final decision for its operations in China will not affect Sino-US economic and trade relations,a Chinese official with Ministry of Commerce said Friday.

Speaking at a monthly press conference, Yao Jian, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, said that China will continue to support foreign companies investing in China, and stressed foreign investors must respect China's national conditions and abide by Chinese laws and regulations. He believes the Chinese market is still attractive for foreign investors and he has confidence in the prospects for the mainland market.

Neither the Ministry of Commerce nor the Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce has received report regarding Google's withdrawal of investment or withdrawal from the China market, Yao said. No matter what final decision Google makes, he believes that this will not affect the overall situation of Sino-US economic and trade relations, because there are multiple links and the communication channels between the two countries.

According to China Daily reports, a spokesperson at Google said Google's decision to shut down business in China is only applied to Google China, while some other business operations such as the Google phone (Android) and e-mail service (gmail) will not be affected.

Google spokesman also said, Google.com will continue to provide Chinese language search service, and said the company has not issued public notice on the development direction of other businesses.

According to the above-mentioned information, China's Internet users will likely continue to use the Google.com for search service.
