China climbed two places in the World Economic Forum's global competitiveness ranking to 27th this year, taking the lead among major emerging market economies, according to the report released Thursday.
That report, the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report 2010/2011, was led by Switzerland again this year, followed by Sweden and Singapore. Rounding out 4th place was the US, which fell two places from last year's No. 2 spot.
The Forum's report ranks the competitiveness of 139 countries and regions around the world based on their Global Competitiveness Index, which reviews 12 categories of competitiveness including institutions, infrastructure and the macroeconomic environment.
