From June 26 to 27, Vice Minister of Commerce Yu Guangzhou paid a visit to the quake-hit areas in Sichuan Province for studying the restoration of commercial outlets, post-quake reconstruction work in the quake-hit areas, etc.

Yu and his team went deep into the seat of Beichuan County to learn about the situation of the quake disaster and inspect the tent shops in Leigu Town, Beichuan County. He paid a visit to the centralized settlements for the victims in Huagai Town of An County to thoroughly inquire the living conditions of the people there and the business operations of the fabricated house-turned convenient supermarkets set up with the assistance of MOFCOM. He also learned about the damages and production restoration of Changhong Corporation in Mianyang County.

The Symposium on the Restoration and Reconstruction in the Quake-hit Areas of Sichuan Province was held by MOFCOM in Chengdu on June 27. Yu listened to the reports and proposals made by the local competent commercial departments and circulation enterprises at the meeting and exchanged views with Huang Xiaoxiang, Vice Governor of Sichuan on the work of post-quake commercial and trade circulation.

Yu fully affirmed the great amount of effective work done by the commercial system of Sichuan Province in quake relief and rescue efforts. He expressed that the commercial system should spare no efforts in doing a proper job of the post-quake resumption and reconstruction as well as commercial development.
