Donations and Goods from Zhejiang Province to Sichuan Disaster-hit Areas Exceeded RMB1b

On May 12, after the earthquake of Wenchuan Sichuan, Zhejiang Province immediately sent all sorts of emergency rescue and medical rescue teams and timely delivered relief goods to disaster-hit areas, and at the same time, all walks of life proactively contributed money and goods to support disaster-stricken areas.

On the morning of May 20, Zhejiang provincial government called a news conference and announced the specified situation of Zhejiang province supporting Sichuan disaster-hit areas since May 13.

As of 12am of May 20, the whole province had accumulatively received donations and goods of RMB1.0919b, ranking the first among the donations at provincial level of the country, with daily donations and goods exceeding RMB100m.

Relief goods worth more than RMB45m had been delivered to disaster-hit areas. All sorts of rescue teams from Zhejiang had successfully rescued 9 survivors in all.
