Hong Kong and Sri Lanka signed an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters here Monday, the 25th pact Hong Kong had signed with other jurisdictions.

The agreement will come into force 30 days after the two sides inform each other they have complied with their entry requirements for the agreement.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee and Sri Lankan Secretary to the Ministry of Justice and Law Reforms Suhada Gamalath signed the document.

According to the pact, both sides agreed to help with each other identifying and locating people, executing requests for search and seizure, effecting the temporary transfer of people in custody and to provide other assistance.
