Products from Costa Rica being exhibited for the first time at the ongoing China Import and Export Fair (CIEF) have captured the attention of international visitors. The Costa Rican delegation has set up seven booths at the international pavilion, displaying a wide range of products. "Enterprises in Costa Rica have shown interest in participating in the world-renowned trade fair, aiming to find more trade partners here in China," said Mario Arroyo, a representative of the Costa Rican delegation. According to Arroyo, products currently being promoted are from 25 Costa Rica-based enterprises, ranging from coffee, beer, cookies and jam to seasoning materials. "Most are food products of high quality," Arroyo noted. "In Latin America, we don't have such a large trade fair. As a result, we are here to seek more business opportunities with Chinese enterprises. As you know, there is a huge consumption demand in China," he said further. Arroyo also praised Canton Fair's increasing role in pushing forward international trade. "Not only China, but also other countries and regions have benefited greatly from the fair in terms of foreign trade development," he said. So far, more than 500 buyers, most of them Chinese, have engaged in talks for potential deals with the Costa Rican delegation, Arroyo said. "All 300 brochures and 200 DVDs featuring Costa Rica's trade development have been distributed," Arroyo said. Since Costa Rica is a newcomer to Canton Fair, Arroyo said: "It is hard to tell which products are welcome in the Chinese market." "We will wait and see. Anyway, we are very confident to see more Chinese trade partners after this year's fair," he said, adding that Costa Rica manufactures more than 3,000 categories of products. "Besides food products, Costa Rica also produces electronic products of high quality. We will come again to the fair's next session," he promised.
