The 4th work group meeting on joint feasibility study on China-India regional trade arrangement held in Beijing on Jun 4-5. The two parties exchanged views and reached consensus on such main topics of study as goods trade, service trade, investment, trade and investment facilities, and economic cooperation.

When Premier Wen Jiabao visited India in April 2005, he announced jointly with his Indian counterpart to launch the study. In March 2006, China’s Ministry of Commerce and India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry held the first work group meeting in New Delhi. In Nov 2006, during President Hu Jintao’s visit to India, the two countries made a Joint Declaration to complete the study before Oct 2007.

The two parties agreed that the 5th meeting would be held in New Delhi in Aug. The joint research would be completed in time according to the instructions of the leaders of the two countries.
